Coal - Coal

VI International Annual Conference CIS Coal 2010, March 10-12, 2010, Alushta, Crimea, Ukraine

12.11.2009

Situation of the recent year displayed that coal remains the key element in the perspective development of power generation and metallurgy in the CIS countries. At the background of sharp decrease in freight railway transportation and sea shipping the share of coal is still growing.

Rapid increase of external coal demand in China supported export potential of Russian suppliers in the conditions of purchase reduction by the European consumers.

Retained dependence of Ukrainian metallurgists on coking coal imports contributed to investment growth into port infrastructure developments, and also to coal assets purchasing abroad.

Unexampled experience of work organization in hard crisis period, optimization of production and logistics schemes, building and strengthening of business relationships between key players at the CIS coal market could become the guarantee of the forthcoming recovery for supply and demand balance.
